The snow didn’t stop the thousands of people marching in the 252nd Annual NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade last Saturday, March 16, 2013, and well over a million people lined Fifth Avenue to watch and celebrate.

March 16, 2013 - New York, NY, U.S. - At the 252nd annual NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade, thousands of marchers show their Irish pride, as they march up Fifth Avenue, and over a million people, often in green and orange, watch and celebrate. Those marching, many who wore kilts, uniforms, colorful costumes, sashes, included Bag and Pipe Bands; Irish dancers; fire, police, military, religious, educational, and social groups. Because of massive ongoing restoration to St. Patrick’s Cathedral’s exterior, construction scaffolding pretty much ruled out picturesque photos of it, but I made sure to document the progress and the high, thin sign wrapped around the landmark: “ST. PATRICK’S IS OPEN,”

Yesterday afternoon, while walking back to Penn Station after visiting my dear friends Mel and Cindy staying near Central Park, I was happy to have a camera with me when I saw newlyweds and their bridal party posing for photos in Father Duffy Square in Times Square.

Temperatures were unseasonably warm that day, reaching 52°F / 11°C mid-afternoon, but the bride, wearing a strapless bridal gown, clearly was happy to put on her coat when the photo session, mainly recorded by one of the bridesmaids, was over.
