Where the Heck is Matt? Dance-a-gram for Cleo the Cat

For years, my family’s been a fan of Matt Harding’s “Where the Heck is Matt?” videos where he enthusiastically dances around the world. So I was intrigued when I saw that the Kickstarter campaign to fund his 2016 video included a perk to have him create a Dance-a-gram.

I asked Matt to create a message about adopting animals on behalf of our family’s Cleo the Cat – the gray and white striped furball we adopted from Last Hope Animal Rescue in Wantagh, NY.

Yesterday I received Matt’s Dance-a-gram, and it’s AMAZING:

When I saw the first location in Matt’s Dance-a-gram is Cape Canaveral, Florida, I smiled, since I’m such a space fan and was at Kennedy Space Center in 2000 for Jim Lovell’s talk & book signing for Apollo 13.

On Super Bowl 50 Sunday, furball fans at Last Hope Animal Rescue in Wantagh enjoyed food, face painting, and cheering on the Last Hope Lions, their home team of kitties playing in the Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl III.

The Open House guests were thrilled when host BETH STERN, an animal activist and spokesperson for North Shore Animal League America, introduced tabby cat ALEXANDER, the Mayor of Last Hope. Ms. Stern explained Alex is available for adoption and then kissed him, which he accepted like a purr-fect gentleman.

Another exciting highlight was when Tiger – one of the tiny tabby players in Kitten Bowl III – visited the party with his new family, Charlie Brown and Melanie Benedetto. The now 7-month-old celebrity sported a fur-ociously cute harness with skull and crossbones, and after graciously allowing his fans to see him up close, jumped on top of a nearby tall cage.

Though Kitten Bowl victory escaped the grasp of Last Hope Lions’ tiny paws, the cute catheletes feel like winners, since they and all 100+ kittens in the game have been adopted.

Scottish Festival & Highland Games at Old Westbury Gardens 2014

I saw Tartan to left of me, tartan to right of me, tartan in front of me…. and much more at the 54th Annual Long Island Scottish Festival and Highland Games last weekend at Old Westbury Gardens.

TARTANS
The Clan Gordon Highlanders Pipe Band of Locust Valley were one of the spirited marching bands that performed.

American Revolution re-enactors of the 42nd Royal Regiment of Foote wore colorful red and black uniforms, carried muskets with bayonets, and performed synchronized movements. The regiment, The Black Watch, was raised in the Scottish Highlands in 1740 and fought for the British.

Cosmo the barn owl was one of the fascinating birds at the Wildlife in Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation exhibit, where WINORR’s CATHY ST. PIERRE and her husband BOBBY HORVATH taught children and adults about the area wildlife and how the non-profit group helps them.

Long Island Scottish Clan MacDuff co-hosted this festival rich with Scottish musicians, singers, and booths with food, clothing, artwork… stretching across the rolling lawns of the historic Gold Coast estate.
